Undoing Mainstream Media’s Credibility

00

Ask Buzzfeed News and CNN if they know the difference between substantiated facts and conjecture?  Ask them, too, why a report filled with unsubstantiated gossip, rumors and innuendo constitutes news?  And then ask them if they’re proud of themselves for demonstrating as members of the mainstream news media  their lack of professional credibility, accountability and integrity?

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, the Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines “conjecture” as:

  1. inference formed without proof or sufficient evidence;
  2. a conclusion deduced by surmise or guesswork;
  3. a proposition (as in mathematics) before it has been proved or disproved.

This whole fiasco began when Buzzfeed News published a feature which contained a 35-page document alleging Russia having some things about Donald Trump that were thought to be such that Russia could blackmail the President-elect while he served in office.  Integrity was given to the Buzzfeed News report by CNN in a followup-style report as well.

Buzzfeed News – These Reports Allege Trump Has Deep Ties To Russia

CNN Politics – Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him

The fact is this report had been out for months, and had been provided to certain Democratic members of Congress, The FBI, the Intelligence Community and as assortment of other people.  In any number of cases, the information contained in the report was fact-checked and not a single bit of credible evidence was found to support the claims and allegations.  Somewhere along the line, someone (probably one of their “anonymous” sources, or someone “unauthorized to speak”) leaked the report to Buzzfeed.  So what was thought to be yet another slam against President-elect Donald Trump because probable cause to question the integrity and credibility of both Buzzfeed News and CNN.  Nowhere was this better address than in the following:

American Thinker – Santa Clause 11 months early for Mr. Trump

American Thinker – Killing CNN

This past Wednesday, in his first-ever news conference, President-elect Donald Trump allowed the mainstream news media to question him openly.  However, subsequent to the unprofessional behavior of CNN with regard to featuring the unproven, unsubstantiated report in a blatant attempt to once again discredit Trump, President-elect Trump refused to allow CNN reporter Jim Acosta to address him with a question.  For this, President-elect Trump was lambasted by Fox News; thus demonstrating yet another member of the mainstream news media was little more than a political tool for the political establishment.

Fox News – Fox News defends CNN’s reporting, criticizes Trump’s treatment of John Acosta

So much for Fox News being “fair and unbiased“, don’t you think?

Not everyone jumped through hoops to congratulate Buzzfeed’s and CNN’s for their biased and bigoted attacks on President-elect Donald Trump.

Fox News – Hannity:  Buzzfeed is a propaganda arm of Democratic Party

Western Journalism – CNN Finds Out What It Was Like To Be Fox News Under Obama

I’m not about to tell anyone what they have to believe in, or what they don’t have to believe in.  That’s for each individual to do.  However, please understand that Fox News (fair and unbiased), Buzzfeed News (already a contender for an award like that of the National Enquirer) and CNN (once a respected news source) have all been added to my ever-growing list of the mainstream news media that have demonstrated conjecture is more important than fact-based news.
