There’s an old saying that “the opry ain’t over ’till the fat lady sings“. Well, if you look at this election process then it’s easy to see it as that “opry“. And with the start of Early Voting, be assured that “the fat lady” is indeed warming up. Our “opry” will be over on Election Day 2016 when a new president is elected or selected; and, the fat lady will have sung. Now whether that “fat lady” is the American people with their votes, or the Electoral College acting in compliance with the demands and orders of the political establishment, has yet to be seen. And with it will be either the hope for change that could make this a great nation again, or our democracy being flushed down the toilet just like the moral fiber and character of those who comprise the political establishment.
Funny thing is that it could well be the election has already been decided. Two weeks ago Reuters published a report that a poll indicated that as many as 95% of the Electoral College supports Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States.
If this is true, and the outcome of this poll determined credible, then what is the sense for the American people to waste their time casting ballots? After all, it’s the Electoral College who determines who the next president will be and not the popular vote. Sure, casting ballots may provide some influence as to how the members of the Electoral College will vote, but the voice of the people literally no longer exists. And if Clinton is to become the next President of the United States, then you can bet your bottom dollar it will be only a matter of time before our Constitution and Bill or Rights become things of the past and fodder for history books. The American experiment will have died.
