Business as Usual

The Jefferson County Beer Party supposes it is fitting to congratulate Bobbie Prince for having been re-elected as Mayor in the City of Port Arthur, and to Robert Troy in his successful bid to be elected to City Council.  But that’s about as far as we’re willing to go because Port Arthur is most likely now going to return to “business as usual” in the manner it was prior to this last election season.  Heaven knows the only time anything constructive gets done around Port Arthur is when important city officials are up for re-election.  The rest of the time the personal and political special interests of our elected and appointed city officials are far more important than such trivial things as meeting the needs of the community.

During the election campaign season, a remark was made that Port Arthur is “becoming a joke in Jefferson County and much of Southeast Texas”.  The sad truth is that Port Arthur has been a long-standing joke not only in Jefferson County and throughout much of Southeast Texas, it’s also a standing joke throughout much of the State of Texas.  And, even in a few places outside the State of Texas, too.  That’s because the community is recognized as a center for corruption, cronyism and nepotism.  It’s widely known and recognized that more than three-quarters of Port Arthur residents exist day-to-day on government handouts.  We’re seen as following in the footsteps of other communities like Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Detroit, Michigan where little or no effort is being made to control overhead and reduce expenses.  Port Arthur is following a trend that is sweeping any number of other communities nationwide that is leading them toward a path of destruction; most of it from within.  Around here, the phrase most commonly used is that Port Arthur is slowly sinking into the marsh muck.  It’s small wonder why so many people question how Port Arthur, a community surrounded and embedded by the petro-chemical industry, can be so blighted and dilapidated?

When the Jefferson County Beer Party first came into being, we touted looking to the future and trying to make this community a better place to be; somewhere people and businesses would like to be.  That soon changed, though, as more and more it was realized far too many have their heads firmly buried in the past.  Some with regard to atrocities that took place in the nation hundreds of years ago, and others with an ideal that the city could be taken back several decades to a time better than now.  The past can no more be erased than can the cost of living in another day gone by restored.  And quite contrary to the belief around this town, neither the government nor the people of this nation owe anyone anything.

The Jefferson County Beer Party thinks Bobbie Prince, as the Mayor of Port Arthur, is pretty much a lost cause.  She will do whatever she has to do in order to accomplish her personal agenda no matter what.  And we would like to wish new City Council member Robert Troy the very best in his attempt to serve our community.  Mr. Troy is a very intelligent and well-rounded individual who has some very good ideas for getting our community back on track.  Unfortunately, he is facing an uphill battle in his attempt to bring about the necessary changes in Port Arthur.  He is facing opposition from more than half of the existing City Council that is comprised of Prince sympathizers.  This includes Council members Freeman, Williamson and Segler.  The others are either too wishy-washy or gutless to stand against Prince and her cronies.  Until the people of Port Arthur can get these people out of office, and effect the changes in the other facets of government, administration and management within the community, the city will continue down its path toward self-destruction.  Unfortunately, many of us will see it within our current lifetimes.

Is It Just Us?

Is it just the Jefferson County Beer Party, or do you also think there may be some sneakiness in what’s going on over at the Port Arthur Independent School District?  First, we learn there are children and teachers being bullied and attacked by students, but none of these incidents ever reach investigators with law enforcement agencies.  Then a set of parents come forward to file charges against a student attacker who beat their son and daughter bad enough that bones were fractured and medical attention required, but the son and daughter are the only ones punished by the school system.  Soon thereafter comes word of a special needs student falling victim to not one, but two, beatings by as many as seven other students.  These altercations were caught on cell phone cameras, but once again only the victim gets punished because he “fought back”.

And now the latest facet of the saga of “As the Port Arthur Independent School District Turns”.  System Superintendent Johnny “Downtown” Brown is leaving.  Leaving almost a year before his contract with the PAISD expires.  And the school district is so anxious to rid themselves of him they are willing to shell out a quarter of a million dollars to buy out that contract.  Hey!  Wait just a dog-gone diggety minute here.  Isn’t this the same school district that begged voters to approve a 13% tax increase because it didn’t have the funds to properly maintain campus buildings?  Have the people of Port Arthur forgotten that the PAISD claimed that if the tax increase wasn’t approved, the district would be bankrupt before the end of this December? And wasn’t it the PAISD who based their entire new school system budget on the revenues the tax increase would have brought in even before the election?  So if the Port Arthur Independent School District is in such dire need of funds, just where in the hell did it come up with a quarter of a million dollars to buy out Downtown Johnny Brown’s contract?  And maybe someone from the PAISD would like to respond to this editorial to explain how all this is “for the children”.

And now the latest news to bring further scorn onto how PAISD Administration personnel handle taxpayer monies.  In an editorial in the Southeast Texas Political Review, author Phil Klein goes into detail with regard to the spending habits of Dr. Brown and his accomplices when on out-of-town trips.  Tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars used to stay in the finest hotels, eat in the finest restaurants and rent vehicles to go hot-rodding around in all instead of using those funds appropriately “for the children”.  Once again, and just like the spendthrifts the people of Port Arthur continue re-electing to city government, the Jefferson County Beer Party has to ask just how long the fiascos like this are going to have to continue before the people of Port Arthur have had enough?

The Port Arthur Independent Schools District is one of the poorest school districts in the State of Texas.  It is also one of the most mismanaged districts as well.  The Jefferson County Beer Party considers those who perpetually work within the PAISD to be little more than another bunch of people who have found a way to bilk the daylights out of the taxpayers by enjoying a lavish lifestyle on the taxpayer’s dime.  Very much like the reported 76% of the city’s population that exists day-to-day on government sponsored “entitlement” programs (welfare)  all the while crying there aren’t any jobs when there are plenty of them, but refusing to work.

It is the considered opinion of the Jefferson County Beer Party that the best thing that could possibly happen to not only the City of Port Arthur, but the Port Arthur Independent School District as well, is that they fall into complete bankruptcy.  Maybe then, when the taxpayer dollars are shut off, people will start to once again learn to stand on their own two feet and not rely on “government” to pay their way.

How Low Can You Go? Ask Calvin Walker

Not bad.  A convicted criminal accusing a Beaumont Independent School District Trustee of wrongdoing.  Absolutely amazing!  But Calvin Walker has come forward to file a criminal complaint against Mike Neil for allegedly voting illegally on a contract.  This coming from someone convicted of bilking school districts and taxpayers out of tens of thousands of dollars through shoddy workmanship, overcharging, double-billing and a bunch of other shady practices so many like him have become famous for.  Sadly enough, the same school districts who he violated so severely that it brought about his own criminal prosecution are continuing to allow him to work for them.  And now this.

The Jefferson County Beer Party has learned Walker sent a couple of highly inflammatory emails to Phil Klein, of the Southeast Texas Political Review.  They more than adequately demonstrate what a worthless piece of work Calvin Walker is, and small wonder there is so much distrust and disdain for those like him.  The following has been copied and pasted verbatim from the Southeast Texas Political Review‘s website.  We apologize to Mr. Klein for not having first secured permission to republish his feature article, but we’re sure he’ll be pleased in knowing that you, the general public, will become better aware of what our valuable tax dollars are being wasted upon.  The article:

Well, it is Sunday. A day of healing – and a day of….well we got an email letter from Calvin Walker. And folks – it is not pretty so let’s do a little warning to all of you. Okay?

WARNING : IF YOU ARE FAINT OF HEART, CANNOT HANDLE STRONG WORDS, CURSING, AND/OR A RETORT THAT MIGHT OFFEND YOU, THEN STOP READING NOW.

And with that…here we go.

First, before we tell show you the email, the staff authenticated it. It did come from, and was sent from an IP address, and an email address owned and operated by Calvin Walker. We wish not to publish it because it will inflame all of you out there – and we don’t want Mr. Walker to suffer any ill will – other than what we are going to say here in a minute.

 Shall we begin?

We got two emails – one written on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 6:50 p.m. (right after happy hour?) And the second written on the same day at 7:09 p.m. So let’s do it! Here they are :

Email One

“HEY DUMB ASS KLEIN!!!

You can call this “CHANCE” if you want too.

It seems all you people do is cover up y’all criminal activities by attempting to blame all of your RACIST B.S. on us.

The only way your REDNECK RACIST PEACE OF S*** buddy can get out of this is if y’all do want y’all are well known to do.  Cover that s*** up, like you are doing now.

As for you, I won’t put that in writing.

Have a nice day!!!

KL-/:;)$&@&1876902436Ch.

Calvin Walker”

Email Two

Also Klein,

If your stupid a** is saying the only thing standing between “THAT BIG RED BIRD” and JAIL is determined by, if I did my homework or not.  If everybody does their jobs in an unbiased manner, you can kiss that S*** goodbye.

And for you,

F-/;()!65)(21″”‘mb,,mm2039A,

Sincerely,

Calvin Walker

So let’s help you faint at hearts know what Mr. Walker is speaking of. He is speaking of trustee “Mike Neil” who is on the board of BISD. He is one of the votes that either keeps Walker with the government contract that has made him a rich man (not smart just rich). Mr. Walker is mad because we exposed – and we did this past week – that Walker went down trying to file charges on Neil for being a trustee and voting on a fuel contract that benefited the company he works for. As well, possibly being a part of the campaign for local businesses not to do business with Neil’s company. Of course, the dumb ass phrase is simply talking about us – here at the Review because we called him a dumb ass for not noticing that Neil abstained from voting on the fuel contract. Meaning – Neil could not have violated any laws. Walker – being a “dumb ass” did not do his homework before making a fool of himself.

Now that leads us to what we want to RETORT to Mr. Walker.

First, Mr. Walker – RETORT means to answer. Just in case it was too heavy of a word for you.

Second, you are dumb ass. But we will leave that one alone for today. We have much more to say.

Third, sir, you are a convicted criminal. We do not care what you (1) say, (2) think, (3) do, (4) portray yourself to be. By God’s grace and a good lawyer you are not doing 20 to life right now.

Fourth, may we here at the Southeast Texas Political Review suggest that you sir are the racist. Why would we say that? Well, nobody has brought race up. Mr. Neil has not. Mr. Neil has never broke anything down to black or white. Just right and wrong. Something that you obviously don’t get by your actions and taking millions from BISD for work not done.

Fifth, we here at the Review are not really sure that you thank God and the taxpayers (all of them – black, white, Hispanic and Asian) for what you have. All of the taxpayers of Beaumont have done well for you. That is their hard earned money they paid to the Government to piss away on – well sir…..you. Sadly, we have five trustees and their attorney who simply does not care. It is their time! They will spend the money and do the deals now. All the rest of you shut up!

Lastly, this past week we heard a great man speak. His name is Pastor John R. Adolph. We wish we would have had a recording of the speech as this was the second time in a period of two weeks we have gotten to hear him speak. This one was important as he spoke about the break down of the family, government people looking the other way, forgetting about God in the schools, and honesty by adults in government. I sat there in a room with a group of White, Black, Asians, and Hispanics, and watched the wave go across the room in shaking heads “yes” and how wonderful the message was. Of course, yes, some in the room needed to hear it from BISD people to PAISD people – but our hope, dream and thoughts are that maybe Reverend Adolph touched someone and maybe it could start to heal what is wrong.

You see Calvin – you are not part of the solution here in Jefferson County. You are one of the biggest problems. You are NOT a God fearing man. You are NOT any honest man. In fact, as this is a church day as we write this (all four of us that write), you ARE the devil. You ARE what is wrong in Jefferson County. You MUST be stopped. You MUST repent your sins to the taxpayers.

One day you will not have to face us the taxpayers. But a higher power. And you need to think about that. Read up on the “Seven Deadly Sins” and then apply them to your life. And as you breathe your last breath in your body – think about what you have done to our community. Think about how you were not man enough to be honest and do a fair days work for a fair days pay. Think of the millions you cost the taxpayers to file charges on you and bring you to Justice. And think about the people you hurt.

Racist Mr. Walker? Yes you are. But that sir is the LEAST of your problems. Our guess right now – unless you change your life – unless you change your ways – unless you change your soul – unless you do what needs to be done and come clean and honest with those around you – and FORCE honest upon the taxpayers of Beaumont – hell is waiting on you sir.

Calvin, we are all sinners. And least us all cast the first stone…..but know when you do sir that someone will call you out.

Yes Calvin – you got called out.

Do the right thing Calvin. Be honest. Maybe start by visiting with Reverend Adolph or your pastor. Not just when you are charged with a crime (yes we know). But everyday of the week.

Frankly sir, you make us sick. You are nothing but in our opinion a criminal (convicted) and a con-artist. You go away with one of the biggest white color crimes in the history of Beaumont – and maybe Southeast Texas. You are the problem Calvin. Fix it.

For you folks at home – the lecture is now over. We hope you enjoyed what thousands have wanted to say to Calvin Walker of Walker Electric Company of Beaumont Texas.

Now on with your day!”

Be sure the Jefferson County Beer Party has some very choice words to say to Mr. Walker as well.  Just as with Mr. Klein, people like Calvin Walker make us sick, too.  They are abominations against humanity, and as the convicted criminals they are, they should all be packed away somewhere and the key to their cells lost forever.  Jefferson County has enough problems on its hands without mouthy street trash like this adding insult to injury.  But things like this are also indicative of the depth of corruption, cronyism and nepotism that is slowly but surely driving Beaumont, Port Arthur and the rest of Jefferson County down into the marsh muck.

And to those who condone behavior like this so well demonstrates the trash we are forced to tolerate here, then you have what you deserve.  Shame on each and every one of you!

Princess Prince

Prince

The Jefferson County Beer Party would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” and “Congratulations” to Port Arthur Mayor Delores “Bobbie” Prince for being named by Phillip Klein in his Southeast Texas Political Review as one of the five most destructive people in power here in Jefferson County.  Here is the tribute as it appears in the Southeast Texas Political Review:

Mayor Bobbie Prince -   How this lady has stayed in office – and out of jail – shocks even the most decorated law enforcement agency. Port Arthur Texas – is nothing but a corrupt city. It is now being called in Austin – Little Detroit. As the city continues to crumble, insider deals continue to come, money is becoming a serious problem, the police and fire unions have nowhere to go, and she has a small following on city council, Prince remains in full control. Of what? Well a dying city. Over 24% unreported unemployment, services that are owed millions, and those close to the Mayor and certain City Council members that …well…you know do pretty good on the taxpayer’s dime. Prince had a chance to come in and prove to the world that she could turn around the city. But in the end – this did not happen. She because a part of the problem. Port Arthur was dying before she took office – she just embalmed the body.

The Jefferson County Beer Party hopes the people of Port Arthur will well remember the Queen B.  After all, it was she who ran a successful campaign for Mayor that promised change; and, change it did bring.  Unfortunately for Port Arthur, much of that “change” turned out to be trying to redevelop and revitalize downtown Port Arthur into something her aging memory recalled it as being:  a bustling center of commerce and business.  But her plans didn’t take into consideration a couple of very important factors.  First, the City of Port Arthur tried to GIVE AWAY downtown locations back in the mid-1980s to any business that would locate there.  There weren’t any takers.  Then came this ill-conceived plan.  Without so much as a feasibility study, letters were sent to several hundred business organizations inviting each to participate in the great redevelopment scheme.  Only two responded back; each respectfully declining.  The rest of them didn’t bother wasting the postage.  Yet redevelopment continues.  And, one way or another, at taxpayer expense.

The Jefferson County Beer Party also hopes the people of Port Arthur remember well how many times something significant took place within the community’s borders, something for which a true civic leader would have come forward to issue a statement or comment, but Mayor Prince seemed to always be “conveniently” absent.  In fact, many wonder if she didn’t deliberately go into hiding or was sticking her head in the sand to avoid comment.  And on more than one occasion, Prince demonstrated just how racist she is by giving special attention to those within her ethnic group while avoiding all others. There are lots of valuable reason why the people of Port Arthur should remember Mayor Prince, and hopefully they will realize that even in her last term as Mayor of Port Arthur, she has the potential to cause the City, its people and businesses, substantial harm.  A vote for Mayor Prince is like sticking a knife into the belly of the city and twisting it violently.

Reading, Writing and Bullying

Isn’t it nice to know that our children are receiving such a well-rounded education from the Port Arthur Independent School District?  How very well they are being prepared for joining the workforce, continuing their education, or just betting them ready to live life to its fullest!  Consider the extra-curricular studies that include beating others, bullying and thievery.  My, my, my; how could our children ever survive life in the real world without it.

Once again, a report has surfaced describing how a 16-year old Hispanic student was attacked and beaten by another student.  Almost as objectionable is that his 18-year old sister tried to intervene to protect her brother from further injury, the attacker turned his attention toward her inflicting serious injury and stealing her cell phone.  But even more upsetting is that the Port Arthur Police Department didn’t take a report of the incident until nine days after the incident took place, and then only did so when representatives of the PAISD contacted Police Chief Blanton that the news media was looking into the matter and intended to meet with the parents.  This according to reliable sources within both the Port Arthur Independent School District and the Port Arthur Police Department.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful were someone from the Port Arthur Police Department to come forward and explain why no report of an obvious assault and theft wasn’t taken for nine full days after the incident took place?  Small wonder how Port Arthur’s crime rate continues to fall if reports aren’t being taken in a timely manner.

Port Arthur family demanding justice, worried about school security

The people of Port Arthur need to wake up for a variety of reasons.  They are being represented in their government and city administration and management by a group of people more interested in promoting their own personal and political special interests than they are those of the people, and now a school district better known for on-campus assaults and bullying than preparing our children for their future as adults (unless, that is, becoming more of the criminal element taking control of Port Arthur little by little).  How would you like Port Arthur to gain entry into the history books for having some victimized student getting his or her hands on some of the weapons mommy and daddy are known to leave lying around and cause something on one of our school campuses that makes Columbine and Connecticut look like a bunch of amateurs?
